What is your name?
My name is Mikayla Elise Shaw, I don't really know where my name came from, I guess my parents didn't necessarily want to match the names with my twin sister, but I assume the name came from my gran, because she loved the name Mikayla.
How old are you?
I'm nineteen according to my birth certificate, and i share a birth date with someone, so I can never forget that we were born on March 11, although sometimes I do tend to pretend that I don't remember, but I can't wait until we are twenty-one that will be an awesome day!
Where were you born?
Ashemont, Utah, I live in a neighbor hood called Middleford, is where I'm still there now, because I'm attending beauty school because like a turd, I decided I just didn't want to go to college like my older brother and sister. But okay back to where I was born, I was pretty much born in the hospital my dad is a surgeon at, of course being that he's a doctor he was off duty the day my sister and I were born.
Describe your family. Include parents, siblings, spouses and children if applicable.
The Shaw family, there Is no right way to describe them, because It was kind of like growing up like the brady bunch, Growing up I use to trail behind my older sister Aubrey, because I thought she was just the coolest thing on two legs, and all the while I would have my five sisters trailing behind me since they were younger and all. My parents are someone I have always looked up too, despite me deciding I didn’t want to go to college they were really supportive of my decision, my mother is a lawyer, and my dad is a surgeon so the two of them are pretty busy, but they always had time for us. And unfortunately that kind of meant smothering the heck out of all of us, and plenty of family vacations spent breaking up fights that just tended to happen between siblings who are around each other for too long, but that is my family, the brother the sisters, and my parents who are just well awesome.
If married, how did you meet your spouse?
I’m not married, nor do I plan on being for a while, but If I had to meet a “spouse” I would say we ran into each other while I was running back from a hair salon in Rome, and he spilled his coffee all over me, and apologized for being extremely clumsy and then say to me in his thick Italian accent. “Mikayla, you are the most gorgeous beautician I have ever met, and I would love to run my fingers through your hair, and have you do the same to mine.” Oh, and by the way, he would totally look like Orlando Bloom, or Johnny Depp, but hotter, and with more muscles, and maybe an arm full of tattoos, because I have a thing for men and tattoos. And then! We would get married in some really lavish ceremony and whisk off to some really hot house in south of france, and live happily ever after.
What is your occupation? How did you come to choose this occupation?
I am a makeup, hair stylist or a beautician I am actually in beauty school right now, which doesn’t say much, I wanted to own my own salon and maybe a spa attached to it. But how I got into my occupation was purely by luck everyone In my family had aspirations and dreams to do stuff, and well, I didn’t I love makeup and I work for M.A.C now I’ve been working there since high school, but I realized I really wanted to go to beauty school, and I explained to my parents, that as soon As I graduate I was going to go to beauty school and get my licenses and then maybe start a business or work in a salon I don’t really know the plan yet.
What are your hobbies and interests? Do they help define you as a person? If so, how and why?
My interests would be makeup, and hair I love creating different looks, and hairstyles, because the face is like a canvas and you are able to create the most gorgeous make up techniques on it and it’s just a hobby and it’s always has been, I really love Halloween, being able to make people look like characters has always been a fun thing for me. But it defines me as a person because overall makeup is my life, people are around it all the time but I am 24/7 it M.A.C. defines me as a person because it’s something that I breathe as far as makeup goes. Why? I don’t really know…I guess it’s just been that way since I was little coloring in things has always been a passion of mine, and being able to do it on the face of someone with well not crayons but makeup is just fun.
Do you have pets? Do you want any?
I do actually, I have a little Labrador retriever named scooter Sullivan yeah I know it’s weird that I have a dog with a last name, but he’s been my dog since I was little my dad got him for me for my birthday.
Describe a single event from your life that has affected you greatly? This can be positive or negative.
One thing that has affected me, would be when the family found out that our father was cheating on our mother, granted it wasn’t that big of a secret to the older kids I guess? But to myself, and my two sisters were completely in the dark, I know for me personally it made me look at my father differently, to think that he would do this to our family and to his wife and my mother just kind of put a bit of a damper on our home life. After it was all said and done, my parents went into working heavily my mom spends most of her time at the office, and my dad spends his time at his office doing work, but they make time for us which is great. I don’t know if they would ever get a divorce but right now it’s pretty apparent that neither rof them is well happy. I don’t really like to touch on the subject, because the woman he cheated on our mom with I went to school with her son, and it was horrible having to go to school every day knowing that this guy ‘s mother could have and still have potentially ruined my family. It affected me because I don't really see myself getting into a long term relationship without their being doubts, that I would be cheated on.
What were you like as a child?
As a child, I was quiet I tended to be the non loud one out of the three , back then it was only three but by the time my younger sister was born I grow out of my shell a bit and tended to be the artsy fartsy child who painted and dyed the Easter eggs all creative but wouldn’t let any if tem eat them.
What were you like as a teenager?
A teen. My teen years was something else I went through a really rebellious stage back then because it was around the time that I found that my dad had cheated on my mother, so It was a bad time for me. I would skip school, get into fights, not do my homeowork, and my GPA began to falter a bit and my parents had to have a talk with me which didn’t help, but by senior year I realized I was screwing up my chances of getting into a really good school like my sister and brother. |
